Pashley is Getting a Makeover Today!

Before.

My Pashley Princess Sovereign is out getting a makeover today at LA Brakeless.

I am replacing the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires that come with the bike with Schwalble Delta Cruisers in cream with reflective sidewalls. So many of the blogs I follow recommend these tires and the bike looks so lovely with cream tires that I just had to try them.

I also bought Brooks leather grips that match my saddle to replace the old school plastic ones that come with the Pashley.

I also felt that my gears were slipping a bit, so they are checking out that problem as well. LA Brakeless is the bike shop that is closest to my home - I can walk there. It's kind of a hard core fixie shop and my Pashley felt a bit out of place there, but the staff was very friendly and the gentleman who helped me said he knew how to fix a Sturmey Archer hub, so I believe she is in good hands!

I can't wait to see her all made up!

  1. How exciting! I think those SA internal hubs seem to go through a "breaking in" period and they need some adjustments after the initial riding period. I know I had to take mine in after about a month and have it checked out. Should be an easy fix. Very excited to see new pics of your bike with the new accessories! :)

  2. Looking forward to seeing the Pashley madeover and seeing you dressed for a tweed ride! (Maybe when it gets colder?)

Oh! And if ANYBODY should be wearing one, it's YOU who should be wearing a Yakkay helmet! Very chic! ^_^

  3. I love those Delta Cruiser tires!
And I'll be very curious to hear how you'll like the Brooks handles; I have been considering them (although they'd have to wait, I've gone over budget on the bike I've just ordered anyway....), but it's hard to get a good idea of them so far.

  4. You're going to love those Brooks grips and Delta Cruisers. I've got both on my Pashley. Jus this past week I had to make adjustments to me SA hub too. It's true about the breaking in period. Mine was slipping 3rd, but with just a little cable adjustment all was well again.

  5. I have been researching which bike to buy and think I have settled on the Pashly Princess Sovereign. I am ordering some aftermarket add ons, like the same tires you added! Would love to see some pics of your Pashley with the new tires and handgrips.
